The initial identities for IBM Cloud were IBM SoftLayer and IBM Bluemix. The IBM SoftLayer was for the IaaS offering, while the IBM Bluemix handled the PaaS offering. At a later date, however, IBM decided to rebrand and combined the two together to form IBM Cloud Services; this gives the end users an access to both IaaS and PaaS offerings on the same console.  The rebranding is relatively recent; it took place in October 2017. The name was also changed to IBM Cloud after rebranding.  Today, IBM has become a leader in cloud computing and it occupies a pole position when compared to several other cloud computing platforms, like:

  • Google Cloud Platform
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Amazon Web Services.

Every end user of IBM Cloud services will have easy access to cloud migration, which makes it easy to transfer business elements, like applications and date to a cloud computing environment and from one cloud computing environment to another.  The services offered are also highly flexible, which is one other factor that places IBM Cloud Services ahead of the competitors.

Check below for some of the factors that set IBM Cloud apart from the others.

Speed and simplicity

IBM Cloud focuses on the DevOps model  and this successfully reduce the downtime involved in application redeploying.  This is made possible by continuous delivery.  It provides an integrated environment that permits the end users to deliver codes automatically without ever undergoing the hassle of debugging and building installation scripts.  Consequently, there is a great reduction in the time required for managing code delivery and putting such in the hands of the user community and testers at a faster rate.  The end user can also deploy application to several spaces and this permits environment segregation for development, production and testing.  The feature described above helps the developer to remain focused on coding and not be distracted by installation.

High level of efficiency

Aside from speed of the IBM Cloud Services described above, it is also highly efficient.  It helps the end user to easily get its applications to the market quickly and efficiently.  The end user can get this done without ever worrying about maintenance or underlying infrastructure costs.

Strategic value

A business organization can equally have a competitive advantage over others in its chosen niche since the IBM cloud provides the most innovative technology you can ever come by in the cloud computing industry. The top-line flexibility of the IBM Cloud Services makes it scalable on demand and this provides a unique support to fluctuating workloads.

Storage options

IBM Cloud Services never limit the end users to a specific storage option; the company is free to choose any of the available plans based on what works best for its business need in terms of volume of workload and security needs.
